Ticket Description
Hi,

someone has stolen my nick that I've been using on irc since 1997: john_cons.

And it's not a nick-collision, it's just harassment.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Erik Ribsskog

Our records show that the nickname "john_cons" was not registered to you since 1997. In fact, it wasn't registered for years.

I haven't it was registered.

Please read again.

If you didn't register it, it wasn't stolen from you as it was available for registration (by anyone). However, if you have any logs of actual harassment, we'll be happy to look into it.

My nick is registered on undernet, but not here, (since I'm new here).

Here on Dal-net it has been stolen by a nick-collector, who knows my nick from the web, and do this to harass me.

Registering a nick on undernet or any other network does not reserve a nickname on DALnet and has nothing to do with DALnet at all.

How are they harassing you?

They are stealing my nick, which I've used since 1997.

Why would anyone want to do that?

It's just due to harassment, that they register my nick, so that I can't use my own nick here, (and to make my nick look stupid like they did on EF-net, when they used my nick, and asked for gay clubs in London etc., just to distroy the integrity of my nick, which I've used for many years).

They didn't steal it, it was unregistered and they registered it (as any user like yourself could). I'm sorry but we have checked and there is nothing that indicates they are nick collectors.

Ok, maybe not nick-collectors, but nick-stealers, that are harassing me.

Like I have explained, I have been harassed at other networks.

They have registered my nick, to harass me.

Again - they didn't steal anything, the nickname wasn't registered and they registered it.

As we said on reply #3, you're more than welcome to send us logs of the harassment on DALnet and we'll look into it but until then, he can keep the nickname as you do not own it.
Reply #10 from Guest at 10/03/2010 22:07
I think I have to say I own it, since I have been using this nick, for thirteen years.

The reason it was registered by someone else, was to harass me.

This is organised and has been going on, on EF-net and Undernet also.

You can say and think whatever you want, but the fact is that you didn't register that nickname on DALnet, you do not own it here and you can have no claim about it here.

Again, if he is harassing you on DALnet (other than registering a nickname you think you own here), you can paste us the logs and we'll be happy to look into it.

Well I think you should investigate this, to me it's obvious that my nick has been registered here, to harass me.

Look at this as a complaint against Dal-net.

That nick is almost like my name, since I have been using it for so many years.
