Dear Mr Ribsskog

Thank you for contacting the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) regarding your complaint against Northumbria Police.

The IPCC acts as the guardian of the complaint system, however, the police force concerned is responsible for officially recording the complaint, and in the majority of cases, investigating the complaint. It is for this reason that a complaint would normally be forwarded, with the complainants consent, onto the Professional Standards Department (PSD) of the appropriate police force for their consideration.

We note that your correspondence has already been sent to the police and we will therefore be taking no additional action.

It is now the responsibility of the Northumbria PSD to respond to your complaint. Should the PSD decide not to record your complaint, you will have a right of appeal to the IPCC.

In the meantime you should await a response from the Professional Standards Department of Northumbria Police.

Yours sincerely
