Hei,

ERIKA --

The first Pride was a riot.

In 1970, Black and Brown transgender people led the charge to fight back against police violence and discrimination. Since then, Black LGBTQ+ people have routinely shown up on the front lines in our fight against white supremacy and violence.

It is time for us to show up for them in the same way.

We need to let everyone know that #BlackLivesMatter means ALL Black Lives deserve to be valued, respected, and protected.

If you’re ready to fight for the liberation of every member of our community, share this graphic on your social media to show your family and friends that Black Trans Lives Matter.

#BlackLivesMatter means all Black lives

In the past few weeks alone, we’ve seen a trans woman, Iyanna Dior, beaten in Minnesota, the police shooting of Tony McDade in Florida, and the murders of three Black trans women: Riah Milton, Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells, and Nina Pop. Their tragic deaths come right as the Trump administration has rolled back protections for transgender people seeking health care -- during a pandemic.

As we continue to demonstrate, we must make sure to center the voices of the most marginalized members of our community: our trans friends and family members who live under the oppression of racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia.

Our movement is strongest when we speak with one voice and affirm one another. Now, more than ever, all Black LGBTQ+ people need our unwavering support. As we reimagine and transform racist systems, we must be intentional to actively center Queer lives in this work. All members of our community deserve not only to survive, but to thrive, exactly as they are.

Share this graphic now to reaffirm that All Black Lives Matter and show support for our Black LGBTQ+ siblings.

In love and solidarity,

Black Lives Matter Global Network
