Hei,

Thanksgiving

Dear Miss,

In a year filled with many challenges, losses, and disappointments, it might be hard to see the good 2020 has brought. Despite the struggles, there is plenty to be grateful for this year.

This year alone, we saw the Supreme Court affirm that employers can’t discriminate against transgender people in the workplace, voters across the country chose to send a record number of trans and nonbinary people to their state legislatures, and voters elected a new administration headed to the White House that is committed to advancing trans issues and being an ally to all trans people.

This year especially, we are so thankful for you. We are thankful for your voice, your activism, your generosity, and always, your constant reminder of why we do the work we do -- to ensure that our trans family is seen and treated as equal in all aspects of everyday life.

So, today, as you gather with friends and family, whether around the table or the computer over video, we hope you will take a moment to reflect on all the progress you helped NCTE make this year. There will be more challenges ahead, but they will always make the wins that much more special. And that is certainly something to be grateful for.

Sincerely,
