Hi,

in my last email I wrote that I wanted a reply from the Managing Director about this.

And it doesn't say a title in your email.

So this I have to complain about.

Please escalate this to the Managing Director now.

(I want to know the name of the internet-troll, who has ordered/written this in my name.

And I want to know what you plan to do, to avoid that something like this happens again).

Hi Erik

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with items being ordered in your name - it sounds extremely stressful and worrying.

I'm afraid that there's genuinely no way for us to find out who filled out the contact form on our website on your behalf, but you can rest assured that nothing was ordered from Crossref. We are a membership organization for scholarly publishers, so we don't actually have any products to sell.

What happened was that someone filled out the contact form on our website in your name and email address, and what they put into the form was sent to you. But that's it - you just received an email from us, but nothing was ordered.

As Isaac mentioned, we've put in a few changes on our website to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

On our contact form, we now have a "captcha" in place. This stops any bots from filling out the form.

The other improvement we made is that previously, we would email anyone filling out this form with a confirmation email, and this email would include what they'd written in the form on the website. We've now changed this, so anyone filling out the form just gets an email saying that we've received a support ticket from them - it doesn't include the message that was written on the form. This means if someone fills out the form that isn't you, you'll still get a confirmation message, but it'll just say that we've received a support ticket from you - it won't contain the text that was typed into the form. This avoids a spammer being able to contact you via our contact form.

I do hope this goes some way to setting your mind at rest, and I do hope you get to the bottom of this problem soon.
All the best

Amanda
