Hey guys,
Do any of you have a picture of General Anders Gjedde Nyholm (1861-1939), Chef Generalkommandoen, 1926-31 ?
Also... any military history on him (i.e. date of rank, service, awards ) ?
Cheers

Hi Mark,
Wow, that uniform is really in good shape! Pristine, in fact. Where is it on display?
Best wishes,

The General Anders Gjedde Nyholm, is my great, great grandfather, and I spoke with my grandmother about him, and other people in the family, on the phone, the other day.
This general, has been a cureer, in Russia, for Denmark.
And he has been the leader of a study-group of Danish officers, to the German front, during WWI, for some reason:

Also, he had a brother, who was an International Judge, in Haag:

Gjedde, is also an old Danish noble-name, I think Ove Gjedde is the most famous person with this name:

In the 80's, my grandmother, gave me a lot of pictures of this General, and the Danish king etc., but I gave most of the pictures to my younger brother, since he didn't have that much contact, with his mothers family, from which this General is from.
Also, in Oslo, I have a card/letter, from a Danish King, which I think is to this General, that the King, for some reason, didn't have time to go to the Generals birthday.
Also, in Nevlunghavn, where my grandmother lives, my grandmother, gave me to read a bit in, a report, with drawings of German hand-granades etc., which I now think, could possibly be, from the mentioned study-trip, that the Danish officers, went on, to the German front, during WWI.
At least this is how I think it must be now.
I'll maybe try to ask my Grandmother, more about things like this etc., next time I speak with her.
If I have the time/chance etc., that is.
We'll see.
Yours sincerely,
Erik Ribsskog
