Historic G 1 Finds a New Home
We recently advertised our intention to offer the historic G 1 mark for sale in an online auction. The proposed sale date was September 20th 2011. The announcement featured the clear proviso that the auction would not proceed if G 1 were sold before the auction's scheduled start time. G 1 was also openly advertised for sale on the Regtransfers.co.uk website. At the time, a similar mark, F 1, held the record for the highest price ever paid for a UK cherished registration number so, unsurprisingly, there was a great deal of interest in G 1.
A prospective buyer approached the company some days before the auction was due to begin and registered an offer, which was subsequently accepted and so G 1 has a new owner. We will publish more details regarding G 1 if and when the new owner grants us permission to share information. G 1 was originally issued by Glasgow Corporation in 1903, and is one of the most prestigious marks ever made available to the public. It is a genuine piece of British motoring history.Keep Up with Our Latest News and Offers
