Hei,

ERIKA --

In our newest episode of What Matters, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace joins BLM’s Managing Director Kailee Scales. Together, they discuss Bubba’s experience as the sole Black driver in NASCAR’s top series.

Kailee and Bubba explore how NASCAR banning the confederate flag has impacted the Black community and how the murder of George Floyd impacted Bubba personally. Bubba also shares his own journey with NASCAR and his efforts to engage more Black people to enjoy his sport. Note: This episode was recorded prior to a noose being discovered in Bubba’s racing stall that, unbelievably, nobody seems to be able to explain. But one thing is clear: Racism is alive and well in America.

Bubba Wallace sparked the fight for racial justice in NASCAR -- but there’s still so much farther to go.

Hear more about his experience and what’s next for him on the latest episode of What Matters -- available on Spotify, Instagram TV, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, or BlackLivesMatter.com/WhatMatters. Then, share it to help amplify our message.

WHAT MATTERS

In the past few years, we have seen so many sports figures using their platforms to stand against racism. Just like how NFL’s Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem, Bubba Wallace has brought the same persistence and activism to NASCAR.

As cities across the country continue to fuel our movement and give voice to the pain of what is happening in our communities, it is more important than ever to amplify our activist athlete's unique voices and perspectives.

Bubba Wallace’s battle to ban confederate flags from NASCAR was just the one step in the fight to disrupt and transform the broken system that takes our lives and leaves us behind.

When so many are trying to silence us, it is more important than ever that we share OUR stories -- and today, Bubba Wallace shares his. Click here to watch the latest episode of What Matters now.

Thank you for tuning in, standing up, and persisting in our fight for justice.

In love and solidarity,

Om meg

Bildet mitt
