We are a sex-positive, sex-affirming, sex-is-fun bunch at GGN.
But you know what is definitely not fun? To be stigmatized or shamed for choosing to have sex, especially if you take precautions to protect yourself and your sex-partner.
Darren Stehle is the creator and host of the Think Queerly Podcast. Darren spoke with GGN Publisher Shaun Proulx about the issue of shaming and judging those who choose (and sometimes need) to have sex during the COVID-19 pandemic and social quarantine.
Darren and Shaun discuss,
Their experiences of having lived through the beginnings of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and how that contrasts with human behaviour now in relation to the pandemic;
The layers of shame, including gay shame, and bareback shaming from the early days of AIDS;
Why this is a conversation for everyone who has sex, not just gay men;
The human need for touch, physical connection, and sex — the longer we go without social connection, the more difficult it is to feel “human,” and;
The challenge of being single, living alone, or dealing with issues like addiction and depression during social quarantine.
